NOTAS SUPLEMENTARES SOBRE OS BRAQUIÓPODES CARBONÍFEROS DA AMAZÔNIA

Resumo

Supplementary information is presented on the Pennsylvanian brachiopods of the Itaituha series, Amazonian region, Brazil. The present article is based on the study of the collection of the University of Cornell (Morgan Expedition, 1870-71) described by O. A. Derby in 1874 and on the collection of the University of Cincinnati made by K. Caster in 1948, and partially described by H. Dresser in 1948. A new genus of Cryptonellinae is proposed, Petria (type - Waldheimia coutinhoana Derby 1874) and a discussion is given of the systematic position of certain species previously described as well as illustrated or reillustrated some of the morphological features of the brachiopods belonging to these two collections.
